Some farmers from Vidarbha region & Yavatmal district had gone to one day study tour on 15-12-2014. We visited Mr Kishor Thote's farm on that day to know his experience about BT & non BT cotton he grew on his farm.
In
his opinion, non BT cotton didn't require any pesticide spray,
because bolling of this non BT cotton stared relatively later than BT
cotton. And by that time, the season of bollworm was already over.
Non BT cotton plants are healthier than its non BT counterparts. (you
can see in pictures, non BT cotton has grown up to 4-5 feet in
height).

From above observations & experience we can't say 100% scientifically that BT cotton is better than non-BT cotton. But above observations certainly show that we are not paying as much attention to non BT cotton as it deserves.
In short, we have to study scientifically on this observation & experience of farmer Mr Kishor Thote & other farmers like him to get the accurate status of these two types of cotton. It will help farmers grow more & more non BT, indigenous cotton to increase the quality of soil, as non BT cotton requires less resources, monitory as well as environmental vis-à-vis BT cotton.
